The Aldingbourne Country Centre is located on the edge of the South Downs National Park - we provide vocational training for people with learning disabilities across a range of activities and are an established visitor attraction in the area drawing over 60,000 visitors a year. We pride ourselves on giving people a great experience and have just been awarded a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that the grounds of the Centre present an attractive and welcoming environment for everyone. This would include maintaining the woodland walk, overflow carpark, nursery gardens, sand and water play area, hedge maze, camping fields, quarry carpark and the open farm.

We deal with many different species of plants and trees on site including Holm Oaks, English Oaks, Ash Trees, Horse Chestnuts, hedges of black thorn, privet and laurel. Within our woodland walk, you will be able to find blue bells, snow drops, foxes gloves, daffodils and various different weeds.

By providing Horticultural and Gardening services on site you will be working alongside the people we support helping them to learn associated vocational skills. In addition to working on site there may be opportunities to provide this service within the local community.

The successful candidate will start by shadowing and being mentored by our Open Farm & Events Manager. They will be trained on how the site works, how to complete risk assessments, health and safety and the use of power tools. They will be working through plans for new landscaping and facilities and working closely with site manager maintaining biomass boilers and oil tanks.

You will be required to develop excellent working relationships with Country Centre staff, volunteers, people we support with disabilities and visitors to the Country Centre. You will be supported by the Senior for Events & Retail and the Country Centre team. Due to the nature of this role, some weekend working is required, including public holidays.  Rotas will be agreed on a monthly rolling basis.
