About the Role

Rotherfield Primary School is a thriving, friendly village school and we are looking for an  enthusiastic and focused individual to join our supportive and motivated team of Governors.

The ideal candidate will be efficient, reliable and confidential with a keen interest in school governance. They will need excellent administrative skills and experience of minute taking and will be confident in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Office 365 and will have access to a computer and the internet.

Responsibilities will include arranging meetings, taking minutes, preparation and circulation of papers and all secretarial duties for and on behalf of the Chair of Governors, the Head Teacher and other Governors relating to Governing Body business. The Clerk is also required to advise on procedural and legislative matters to ensure the Governing Body works to the legal framework.

The role will be recruited under the Clerking Service Protocol; applicants must either hold a relevant award (BTEC level 3 in Clerk to the Governing Body or equivalent) or be prepared to work towards the East Sussex Clerk to Governors Accreditation Scheme, for which funding and training will be provided.

This post is covered by the Childcare Disqualification Regulations 2009. 

The school will need to ensure that they are not knowingly employing a person who is disqualified under the 2009 Regulations in connection with relevant childcare provision.  Accordingly, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate to the school, by completing a self-declaration form as part of the pre-employment checks process, that they have not been disqualified under the 2009 Regulations. 

If the preferred candidate is found to be disqualified under the 2009 Regulations, the offer of employment will be subject to the application by the preferred candidate to Ofsted for a waiver and the receipt of a waiver from Ofsted.
