Data Protection Officer / Adviser, Kent based. Up to £45,000 plus excellent benefits.

The role of the Data Protection Adviser is to provide advice and support to the senior management and staff on all Data Protection issues for a general insurance intermediary and it`s ancillary companies which are based in various locations within the UK. The role is within the newly formed Business Assurance Team that has been designed to provide assurance across the business on a wide range of assurance matters.
The Data Protection Adviser will also assist the Compliance Manager in ensuring that all areas of the business are adhering to Data Protection regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:
The Data Protection Adviser is responsible for supporting the business`s compliance with applicable Data Protection regulatory requirements.
This includes:-
Ensure compliance with data protection legislation.
Provide advice and guidance on data protection issues where required.
To identify, highlight and help manage and mitigate any data protection risks.
Work with Management and staff to ensure that the business implements and maintains suitable systems and controls to meet the data protection requirements.
Assist with investigations into data protection complaints and breaches.
Review and implement policies and training, working with Training Department.
To consider the impact of data protection developments on the business.
To assist with S.29 and S.35 requests when required.
Undertake internal data protection reviews.
Assist the Compliance Manager with the delivery of the Annual Compliance Plan.
Deputise for the Compliance Manager.
To undertake other reasonable responsibilities and projects as instructed.
To adhere to Company processes with regard to FCA compliance and Treating Customers Fairly.
To ensure that DPA, FCA, TCF and other regulatory requirements are met.

Key Skills and Knowledge:
Experience in financial services and data protection compliance.
Knowledge of ICO, FCA, TCF and CCL.
Good problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
Ability to prioritise work according to regulatory risk.
Commercial awareness and the good judgement to apply a pragmatic approach, when appropriate.
Ability to work with clients and staff at all levels.
