We are looking to recruit a Receptionist for our Crowborough Register Office, based at Hookstead in Goldsmiths Avenue, Crowborough.  The core hours of work are 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.  As the first point of contact for all of our customers it is absolutely imperative that the successful applicant is able to be professional, courteous, customer-oriented, sensitive, empathetic, discreet and competent. East Sussex Registration Service is a busy and thriving service - across our 4 Register Offices last year we registered over 10,500 births and deaths, took notice of marriage and civil partnership from over 4000 people, and conducted well over 2000 weddings and civil partnerships.  This is in addition to our Nationality Checking Service that we provided to over 900 people, and Citizenship Ceremonies we conducted for nearly 600 new British citizens.  We also re-produced nearly 48,000 certified copies of certificates from our historic archive of birth, death and marriage registers dating back to 1837, over which we have custodianship responsibility. We need someone who is able to keep on top of a busy Reception and Waiting Area who is capable of managing incoming phone calls and emails and other work, whilst remaining readily available in person to customers who present to Reception.  We need someone who is able and willing to continually cater their tone and manner appropriately to the circumstances of each customer given that many people are experiencing either extreme highs or extreme lows in their lives when they have reason to use our service.  For the right candidate this position will represent an amazing opportunity to become part of the frontline in helping us to maintain a Registration Service in East Sussex that rivals the very best in the country.
