My client are a leading manufacturing business based in Southend. They are looking to appoint a Buyer on temporary basis. This position is an integral part of the site sourcing team working closely with Commodity Leaders, Region Material Leaders and Planners to maximize the effectiveness, compliance, and day-to-day management of the tactical buying function. The candidate will perform the necessary strategic/tactical activities related to the timely acquisition of materials and effective flow of communication and associated paperwork. You will be responsible for driving and implementing process improvements, system enhancements and continue to improve productivity and efficiency within this function.

100% order placement within 24 hours of receipt
100% management of the supplier order book
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
*Process requisitions, place purchase orders, expedite and track orders in support of Supply Management and Operations.
•Work closely with and support site sourcing leader and Region Material Leaders by providing customer/supplier feedback and assuring compliance of order placement and pricing strategy.
•Resolve quality and delivery problems and coordinate return of defective material.
•Maintain data integrity in SAP from supplier responses.
•Assist with timely and cost effective delivery of product across International borders.
•Maintain and assure current order status information to keep supplier on-time to request info valid.
•As needed, negotiate with suppliers on current issues as directed by the site sourcing leader.
•Work with internal cross functional teams for process improvements.
•Work all invoice holds in a timely manner to prevent credit holds.
•Effectively expedite orders to prevent line down situations and air transportation costs.
•Track all supplier acknowledgements to ensure on-time component delivery.
•Actively participate on Kanban / lead-time reduction implementation projects.
• Must have good written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to effectively manage multiple activities at the same time
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Numerate and experience of working in a high volume manufacturing environment, experience of Lean / Six
sigma (tier accountability) desirable. Demonstrate skills in the area of problem-solving, teaming, and both, written and verbal communication. Must have excellent computer skills excel and Word literate, experience of SAP
